Vikings Activate Latavius Murray from PUP List

MANKATO, Minn. — The Vikings on Monday activated running back Latavius Murray from the Active/Physically Unable to Perform List.

The veteran running back signed with Minnesota in March, disclosing at the time that he would need ankle surgery. He spent all of the offseason program rehabbing and was placed on the Active/PUP list when veterans reported to training camp.

Originally a sixth-round pick by the Raiders in 2013, Murray missed his rookie season due to injury. In the past two seasons, Murray started 28 of the 30 games he’s played, totaling 1,854 yards and 18 touchdowns on 461 attempts. He added 74 receptions for 496 yards in that span.

Murray rushed for a career-best 1,066 yards in 2015 and made his first Pro Bowl. He followed with 12 rushing touchdowns last season, capitalizing in short-yardage situations.

The Vikings have practices at Minnesota State University, Mankato on Monday and Tuesday and are scheduled to open their preseason slate at Buffalo at 6 p.m. (CT) Thursday.

Murray grew up south of Syracuse, New York, about two-and-a-half hours east of Buffalo.
